Hector to Pass South of Hawaiian Islands
Hurricane Hector continues to move westward over the central Pacific today. Hector is a category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 145 mph. Hurricane force winds extend up to 30 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend up to 100 miles from the center.
Hector is expected to increase forward speed Tuesday as it moves just north of west. A due west movement is anticipated late Tuesday through the end of the week. As of Monday morning, there are no watches or warnings in place in Hawaii, however, residents of the islands need to be prepared. A slight shift north could bring more significant impacts.
Hector is expected to pass south of the Hawaiian islands sometime Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates.
